St Mary's Cathedral (Calgary) hosted a Labyrinth Prayer Walk and Bonfire Retreat at the FCJ Centre.

After leading the walk on September 7, 2021, accredited labyrinth prayer facilitator Sister Alicia Dykstra (red plaid shirt), invited members to a casual sharing time around the bonfire. Participants valued the opportunity to nurture their sisterhood and gave the retreat rave reviews.

The labyrinth is a walking meditation, a path of prayer and an archetypal blueprint where psyche meets Spirit. It has only one path that leads from the outer edge in a circuitous way to the center. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Unlike a maze where you lose your way, the labyrinth is a spiritual tool that can help you find your way. Walking the Labyrinth quiets the mind, opens the heart and grounds the body ... Some find answers to questions long asked, some find healing, creativity, a sense of wholeness ... Source: https://www.veriditas.org

Labyrinths became part of Catholic practice as early as the fourth century and were laid into the floors of the great Catholic cathedrals in Europe, including Chartre Cathedral in France (world heritage site). Consider organizing a walking meditation for your council. If you do not have access to a labyrinth, try using a local park or green space.
