Melanie Spagrud

Melanie was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she completed her education and earned a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Regina. She is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Canada.
During her childhood, Melanie was active in her local parish, participating in Sunday school, serving as an altar server, lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC), and singing in the choir. With both her grandmother and mother deeply involved in the Catholic Women's League (CWL), Melanie joined CWL as a teenager, and this year she received her 40-year service pin.
After relocating to Calgary in 1996, Melanie transferred to St. Peter’s CWL, serving as treasurer, president and past-president of the council. Later, she helped rejuvenate the CWL at St. Michael’s Catholic Community in 2018, taking on roles as treasurer, organization chair, president-elect, president, and now serves as past-president. Melanie continues her service at SMCC as an EMHC team lead. Additionally, she helped establish IWIN (I’m Worth it Now) and remains actively involved with its work.
Melanie has devoted herself to her family, church, and community by serving on her local condo association, managing her children’s sports teams, taking on leadership roles as treasurer and chair of three school councils — often simultaneously — and serving on the board of the community minor hockey association and other organizations. She looks forward to continuing her life of service through her work on the Calgary Diocesan Council and with parish councils and communities throughout the diocese.
