Welcome to

the Catholic Women's League

in the Diocese of Calgary

In the world today, as perhaps never before, the church needs an enlightened and faithful laity. Dedicated members of The Catholic Women's League of Canada live their faith by serving others and, thus, discover Christ through relationships with others.

Gabrielle (Gabe) Simpson - 2019 Elsie Yanik Recipient

Past Provincial President, June Fuller (right) presented the Elsie Yanik award to Gabrielle Simpson (left) at the 2019 ABMK Convention.

Gabe exemplifies the League’s motto, “For God and Canada” through her service to St. Peter’s CWL and the Canadian military. She and husband, Sam, work together to assist soldiers suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder. Gabe is also Secretary-Treasurer for the Calgary Regional Committee and a member of the 2019 National Convention Planning Committee.

This Provincial award is a top honor presented to a member of Alberta Mackenzie who exemplifies leadership, ministry and service in an area of need in her parish or community. The award was initiated in 1997 to commemorate Elsie Yanik (Fort Chipewyan) for her dedication to church and community.

 We are women of all backgrounds, ages 16 to over 90, wishing to serve God and Canada, seeking "faith, fun and fulfillment" together.

The Calgary Diocesan Council is comprised of all southern Alberta CWL Councils -- from Hanna in the north to Milk River in the south.

 Please explore our site, Mission Statement and Member Information, and consider joining us. We'd love to have you!

 Prayers and a spirit of joy are important parts of CWL as members journey together in faith.

Life is a series of new beginnings;
make the CWL a priority in your life - the benefits are eternal!
